Jack Mynott struck his first South Wilts century in seven seasons and James Degg shone with the bat and ball, but neither was able to engineer a victory in the final drawn ECB Southern Premier League Time pennant match against Alton.
The Brewers collapsed from 149-2 to 191-8 after South Wilts had posted a formidable 262-8, but played out the last few overs comfortably enough to force a 'losing' draw.
Ironically, Mynott's last SPL hundred was against Alton in late July 2018. This time his 105 - his seventh league ton - took almost the entire South Wilts innings and came during an emphatic 134-run stand with Degg (73), who went on to enjoy his best day in Bemerton colours.
The pair each hit ten boundaries before Ben Draper (29) nipped in to put South Wilts firmly in the driving seat.
Spinner Dan Sumner (3-52) and Tom Varney (3-57) shared six of the eight South Wilts wickets to fall.
Alton responded strongly with Dan Harris scoring 55 of their initial 78 runs and when Sam Ruffell (39) joined the in-form Ben Rolfs (53), the Brewers were a positive 149-2 in the 39th over.
But a double breakthrough in consecutive overs by Degg, which accounted for Ruffell and then dangerous Jude Wright, put pressure back on Alton, who soon after lost Scott Myers at 170-5.
Degg, who finished with a competitive best 5-23 off ten overs, claimed the scalps of five of Alton's top seven, with Archie Fairfax-Ross (2-30) bowling tidily.
Alton closed at 191-8 off 56 overs, notching a handy ten points towards their relegation survival bid.

Sam Pittman celebrated his maiden South Wilts century - but his 101 against Southern Premier Division 3 leaders Fawley came too late to save the club's second team from an 86-run defeat.
The SPL3 leaders dominated from the outset with Kieron Earl (82) and Sufian Munir (78) opening powerfully and both Andy Parratt and Aussie Connor Gibson hitting fifties.
Responding to Fawley's formidable 329-4, South Wilts were reeling at 44-5 when Pittman arrived at the crease.
Undeterred, Pittman cleared the ropes four times alongside hitting 15 fours in a career-best knock. With Nick Partridge (34) and Jasper Blackwood (32) in support, South Wilts posted a tidy 243.
South Wilts' immediate SPL future goes on the line shortly with Fareham & Crofton and Havant II visiting Wilton Road.
