As you will be aware from Andy Cooke’s message there are positive changes being made to the running of the clubhouse. In this clubhouse special let’s meet Rachel Burgess and Kiera Ferguson.
The day-to-day management of the club will be undertaken by Rachel and Kiera with Libby Brice overseeing banking, payroll and stocktaking duties. They will work alongside Carol, Ash, Amy and Jean.
RACHEL BURGESS
How long have you been at the clubhouse? A year and a half
What is your new role ? -Bar and Events Manager
What does the role entail - As the new Bar and Events Manager at our sports club, I’m really excited to bring fresh energy to both our bar services and event offerings. My role is all about creating a welcoming, vibrant atmosphere where members can relax and enjoy themselves, whether it’s grabbing a drink after a game or attending one of our special events. I’m truly looking forward to making positive changes, introducing new ideas, and working closely with the team to enhance the experience for everyone who visits the club. It’s an exciting opportunity to help build a community that’s even more fun and engaging!
What are the challenges in your role? Since come into this role I am so eager to know how everything works straight away but it takes time to learn and I am trying to be patient and allow myself the time to do that. With the support from the team I am finding it easier every day
What are you looking forward to? Using my skill set to contribute to making the club so much more welcoming and friendly.
Do/have you played any sport? I did competition level gymnastics up to the age of 16 and gained 2 belt levels in kick boxing more recently but nowadays spend some of my free time swimming and walking my dog
Other Thoughts? I am very much looking forward to meeting all of the friendly faces around the club. Please feel free to come to me with any ideas, concerns or even for a chat - you will always be welcome. I am usually at the Club between 0900-1430 Mon-Fri and various times during the weekend. KIERA FURGUSON
How long have you been at the clubhouse? Since October
What is your new role? Facilities & Office Manager
What does the role entail? I am responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the club’s facilities and administrative functions. My role includes maintaining the upkeep of the building to ensure a safe and high-quality environment for members, outside organisations and staff, managing office operations, coordinate maintenance and repairs, keep up with the
compliance on health and safety regulations, additionally I schedule events and liaise with suppliers to support the club’s smooth operation and overall success. I work closely with Bar and Events manager Rachel Burgess to help maximise efforts to live up to the Clubhouses potential.
What are the challenges in your role? Marketing and advertising I anticipate to be a little tricky at times however I’m optimistic we can find new and improved ways to do this.
What are you looking forward to? Meeting more of the members/regular faces associated with the sports club and hearing their ideas, suggestions or stories.
Do/have you played any sport? I was involved in Wilton Riding for the Disabled Association as a volunteer for a time when I was younger and as an adult I have enjoyed running, kickboxing and in more recent years I am currently a keen hiker.
Other Thoughts? You can usually find me in the office Monday-Friday as well as working behind the bar for events so please feel free to pop your head in to say hello, introduce yourself or if I can help in any way
